OrACORe Director Comments on Safety of Steroid Joint Injections
A recent study published in Radiology raised concerns about the potential long-term effects of corticosteroid injections on joint degradation when used as treatment for knee osteoarthritis. OrACORe Director Jeffrey N. Katz, MD, MSc, commented on the study and its implications for clinical care in a recent WBUR article.
As quoted in the story, Katz said, “So for clinicians and patients who’ve been doing injections for several years probably it’s worth it to pause and say, ‘Do we want to discuss what we think are the benefits and the risks of this again?'”
